FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

May 2, 2022 – Today at the Annual Leadership Conference in Palm Beach, FL, the Flavor and Extract Manufacturers Association of the United States (FEMA) announced an exciting new opportunity to promote food science education for students at the historic Tuskegee University College of Agriculture, Environment, and Nutrition Sciences (CAENS).

Tuskegee University is a renowned academic institution known as the nation’s top producer of minority graduates in many science and technology degrees. Tuskegee graduates grow to become scientific leaders in their fields, and the new FEMA Scholarship for Food Science Students will offer flavor companies an incomparable opportunity to meet these highly qualified students keen to launch meaningful careers in the food and beverage industry.

This partnership will not only support talented Tuskegee students pursuing food science careers, but it also aims to advance FEMA’s goal of diversifying the industry’s talent pipeline and increasing awareness of compelling entry-level opportunities at flavor companies.

FEMA’s leadership and membership are eager to reach the next generation of food scientists studying at Tuskegee. In this spirit, FEMA pledged a seed donation of $5,000 to help power the program’s mission to inspire and develop future flavorists.

The FEMA Scholarship for Food Science Students is supported by generous donations from FEMA’s membership and industry partners. The first scholarships will be awarded to selected Tuskegee College of Agriculture, Environment, and Nutrition Sciences students during the 2022-2023 school year.
